Oculus Display: Architectural Type

Oculus Display is a typeface inspired by the architecture of the Oculus at the World Trade Center in NYC, paying homage to its architect, Santiago Calatrava. This design captures the organic forms and dynamic lines that define the structure, reflecting the interplay of light and shadow within its expansive interiors.

Drawing inspiration from the white winged, soaring architectural forms of the Oculus, the typeface features bold, graceful curves reminiscent of flower–like shapes to create its letterforms and numerals. The organic lines and refined proportions evoke a sense of movement and fluidity, inviting exploration while echoing the openness of the central skylight. Oculus Display aims to draw a balance of form and function, while being inspired by the architectural structure.
