Lincoln Center: Mostly Mozart
Opening Night Gala
The Mostly Mozart Festival Opening Night Gala at Lincoln Center celebrated the start of the festival and its commitment to exceptional music. The event celebrated performance and honored the power of music, while also serving as a fundraiser to support the festival's future.
The Public Domain
During the Mostly Mozart Festival, the Lincoln Center gave the world premiere of David Lang’s ‘The Public Domain’ — a performance that not only welcomed the public as a free and open event, but was also performed by the public. It was a piece inspired by the theme of the collective knowledge shared amongst us all. It was performed by 3,000 vocalists from throughout New York City.
MTA Music Under New York Celebrates Mozart
The MTA Arts & Design brought music by Mozart and other composers to subway stations to celebrate the start of the 50th Mostly Mozart. Harpist Emily Hopkins played a Henriette Renié piece amid the bustle of commuters in Times Square. A crowd also gathered at the Fulton Center in NYC to listen to the West Village Quartet perform. ‘MTA Arts and Design Music Under New York’ performers celebrated Mozart in collaboration with the Lincoln Center.
Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival in New York City:
Each summer for 50 years, Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival has radiated an air of celebration, combining the exhilaration of summer with Mozart’s inventive genius and inspiring legacy. In this milestone year, an extraordinary festival featured renowned artists, world premieres, festival debuts, and a full calendar of anniversary events.
A Collective Way of Sharing Music:
Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart celebrated their 50th festival by broadcasting live orchestra performances of Mozart’s first and last symphonies. I was invited to collaborate with illustrator Carlos Zamora to animate the look and feel for the 50th Anniversary of the Mostly Mozart Festival, organized by the Lincoln Center. A younger representation of Mozart made of a myriad of pieces engages the audience, in a puzzle-like composition. Vibrant colors provided a celebratory vibe that resonated with more contemporary audiences.
